The same God who brought the Reformation in the sixteenth century is still at work today. His plan has not changed, and what He has purposed for His glory and our good will be accomplished.

On March 9-11, 2017, Ligonier Ministries hosted its 30th annual National Conference, The Next 500 Years, in Orlando, FL. Alistair Begg, Tim Challies, Leonardo De Chirico, Sinclair Ferguson, W. Robert Godfrey, Michael Horton, Augustus Lopes, John MacArthur, Albert Mohler, Stephen Nichols, Michael Reeves, Derek Thomas, and Stephen Tong joined R.C. Sproul to celebrate the five-hundredth anniversary of the Protestant Reformation and consider the future of the church.

In 2 Peter 1:16, the Apostle tells us that he and the other Apostles "did not follow cleverly devised myths" when they proclaimed "the power and coming" of Christ Jesus. Rather, the Apostles were "eyewitnesses of his majesty." These men saw something take place in space and time that altered the course of human history. The incarnation, ministry, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus are not legendary events in a fictional tale. They are firm historical realities on which the Christian faith stands or falls.

In the face of cultural hostility, followers of Christ must not compromise the bold historical witness of the Christian faith. We stand not on a mere idea or a fanciful myth, but on historical events that testify to the fact that Jesus is Lord and Savior.

On February 25-27, 2016, Ligonier Ministries hosted its 29th annual National Conference, The Gospel, in Orlando, FL. James Anderson, Tim Challies, W. Robert Godfrey, Ian Hamilton, Tim Keesee, Greg Koukl, Albert Mohler, Stephen Nichols, Michael Reeves, Derek Thomas, and William VanDoodewaard joined R.C. Sproul to consider the transforming power of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

From the revival in Judah under the reign of King Hezekiah (2 Chron. 29) to the Protestant Reformation that returned the church to the biblical gospel after its eclipse in the medieval era, we see that God is often pleased to shine His light when the darkness seems overwhelming. In every case, the faithful who lived in dark times called out for the Lord to revive them, and God answered their prayers by shining the light of His truth in this dark world. We live in a day of darkness, when the gospel and the church are under attack on every front. Yet we do not live in a day without hope, for God's kingdom cannot ultimately be conquered. As such, we have confidence that as we cry out to the Lord, He will revive us that we might rejoice in Him and His truth again (Ps. 85:6). God's people must cry out for His revival and a restoration of the light.

On February 19-21, 2015, Ligonier Ministries hosted its 28th annual National Conference, After Darkness, Light, in Orlando, FL., to call out for the Lord to revive the light of His truth in our churches and culture. Alistair Begg, Rosaria Butterfield, Tim Challies, Kevin DeYoung, Sinclair Ferguson, W. Robert Godfrey, Peter Jones, Russell Moore, and Stephen Nichols joined R.C. Sproul in considering the theme, "After Darkness, Light." Together, they explored our need to be revived and restored to a high view of God, His law, His people, and His plan for the world.

As has been true in every generation, the church today faces many challenges from the world. The intellectual and moral opposition that we face can seem overwhelming at times, which is why we need to remember that Christ has already overcome this opposition. By His life, death, and resurrection, our Savior has conquered our enemies, and by His Spirit He has granted us to share in the victory. The Lord, in His Spirit, comes alongside us to strengthen us for the battles we face. This strengthening occurs as we are grounded in His truth (John 17:17).

Ligonier Ministries hosted its 2014 National Conference, Overcoming the World, in Orlando, FL. Voddie Baucham, Sinclair Ferguson, W. Robert Godfrey, Albert Mohler, Stephen Nichols, R.C. Sproul, and Derek Thomas consider what the Scripture says about confronting worldliness, defending the faith, living as a faithful remnant, and understanding biblical ethics.

Alistair Begg, Sinclair Ferguson, R.C. Sproul, and Cal Thomas considered the theme No Compromise: Standing for the Truth of God's Word at our 2013 National Conference__, in Orlando, FL. Together they examined what the Bible says about standing firm for bedrock truths such as the resurrection of Christ, the trustworthiness of Scripture, God's plan for the family, our need to show mercy, the importance of theology, the primacy of preaching, the exclusivity of Jesus and much more.

One of the things most alarming about today's culture is the way in which evangelicals are responding to attacks. Gone are the days, it seems at times, when believers devoted themselves to thinking deeply about the world in order to respond humbly to the church's enemies without ceding any intellectual ground. Many evangelicals have bought into the idea that having one's heart in the right place is all that matters - that a passion for Jesus and the life of the mind are mutually exclusive. What this view misses is that burning hearts are not nourished by empty heads. We must develop our minds if we are to sustain our passion for the Savior and deal with the bias against us.

Ligonier Ministries hosted its 2012 National Conference, The Christian Mind, in Orlando, FL. Sinclair Ferguson, W. Robert Godfrey, Michael Horton, Albert Mohler, Steven Meyer, and Del Tackett considered the importance of building a Christian worldview, the role of education in the Christian life, science, and God's natural revelation, defending the faith, and many other topics.

Essential doctrines of the Christian faith are under attack, even from within the church, and it is important that we be well grounded in biblical truths so that we may have a deep affection for our holy, triune God.

Ligonier Ministries hosted its 2011 National Conference, Light & Heat: A Passion for the Holiness of God, in Orlando, FL. R.C. Sproul, John Piper, and Ligonier Teaching Fellows Sinclair Ferguson, and W. Robert Godfrey examine important tenets of the faith, such as divine sovereignty, biblical worship, evangelism and missions, apologetics, and justification. Tim Challies and Susan Hunt provide optional sessions.

Christ has redeemed us to be a light that directs others to Him. Fulfilling this call requires us to be able to deal with the most difficult questions asked about the Christian faith. If we are unprepared to face the darkness around us, it will be harder to counter it with the light of God’s Word.

Sproul and Derek Thomas address some of the most difficult questions we face and endeavor to offer biblical answers to assure us and to help us defend the truths of the faith. This conference also features a special mini-conference on Christian communication in a digital social-networking world.

Ligonier Ministries hosted its 2002 National Conference, War on the Word, in Orlando, FL. Sinclair Ferguson, W. Robert Godfrey, Ken Jones, Erwin W. Lutzer, John MacArthur, R.C. Sproul, and R.C. Sproul Jr. examine the Word of God to help equip Christians to better defend and proclaim the holy Word of God. Demonstrating how the Word of God is under attack, they explain that the assault comes from both inside and outside the church, as those outside claim that Scripture is not the Word of God and those inside fail to handle the Word rightly.

Sinclair Ferguson, Al Martin, R. Albert Mohler Jr., John Piper, R.C. Sproul, Joni Eareckson Tada, and Douglas Wilson explain how to face a world that is hostile to the Gospel. Reminding us that the Gospel is offensive to depraved humanity, the speakers emphasize the need for world missions, the reality of suffering, and our heavenly reward.
