    The Gospel: 2016 National Conference

In 2 Peter 1:16, the Apostle tells us that he and the other Apostles "did not follow cleverly devised myths" when they proclaimed "the power and coming" of Christ Jesus. Rather, the Apostles were "eyewitnesses of his majesty." These men saw something take place in space and time that altered the course of human history. The incarnation, ministry, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus are not legendary events in a fictional tale. They are firm historical realities on which the Christian faith stands or falls.
In the face of cultural hostility, followers of Christ must not compromise the bold historical witness of the Christian faith. We stand not on a mere idea or a fanciful myth, but on historical events that testify to the fact that Jesus is Lord and Savior.
On February 25-27, 2016, Ligonier Ministries hosted its 29th annual National Conference, The Gospel, in Orlando, FL. James Anderson, Tim Challies, W. Robert Godfrey, Ian Hamilton, Tim Keesee, Greg Koukl, Albert Mohler, Stephen Nichols, Michael Reeves, Derek Thomas, and William VanDoodewaard joined R.C. Sproul to consider the transforming power of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

After Darkness, Light: 2015 National Conference

From the revival in Judah under the reign of King Hezekiah (2 Chron. 29) to the Protestant Reformation that returned the church to the biblical gospel after its eclipse in the medieval era, we see that God is often pleased to shine His light when the darkness seems overwhelming. In every case, the faithful who lived in dark times called out for the Lord to revive them, and God answered their prayers by shining the light of His truth in this dark world. We live in a day of darkness, when the gospel and the church are under attack on every front. Yet we do not live in a day without hope, for God's kingdom cannot ultimately be conquered. As such, we have confidence that as we cry out to the Lord, He will revive us that we might rejoice in Him and His truth again (Ps. 85:6). God's people must cry out for His revival and a restoration of the light.
On February 19-21, 2015, Ligonier Ministries hosted its 28th annual National Conference, After Darkness, Light, in Orlando, FL., to call out for the Lord to revive the light of His truth in our churches and culture. Alistair Begg, Rosaria Butterfield, Tim Challies, Kevin DeYoung, Sinclair Ferguson, W. Robert Godfrey, Peter Jones, Russell Moore, and Stephen Nichols joined R.C. Sproul in considering the theme, "After Darkness, Light." Together, they explored our need to be revived and restored to a high view of God, His law, His people, and His plan for the world.

Overcoming the World: 2014 National Conference

As has been true in every generation, the church today faces many challenges from the world. The intellectual and moral opposition that we face can seem overwhelming at times, which is why we need to remember that Christ has already overcome this opposition. By His life, death, and resurrection, our Savior has conquered our enemies, and by His Spirit He has granted us to share in the victory. The Lord, in His Spirit, comes alongside us to strengthen us for the battles we face. This strengthening occurs as we are grounded in His truth (John 17:17).
Ligonier Ministries hosted its 2014 National Conference, Overcoming the World, in Orlando, FL. Voddie Baucham, Sinclair Ferguson, W. Robert Godfrey, Albert Mohler, Stephen Nichols, R.C. Sproul, and Derek Thomas consider what the Scripture says about confronting worldliness, defending the faith, living as a faithful remnant, and understanding biblical ethics.

Together they examined what the Bible says about standing firm for bedrock truths such as the resurrection of Christ, the trustworthiness of Scripture, God's plan for the family, our need to show mercy, the importance of theology, the primacy of preaching, the exclusivity of Jesus and much more.

The Christian Mind: 2012 National Conference

One of the things most alarming about today's culture is the way in which evangelicals are responding to attacks. Gone are the days, it seems at times, when believers devoted themselves to thinking deeply about the world in order to respond humbly to the church's enemies without ceding any intellectual ground. Many evangelicals have bought into the idea that having one's heart in the right place is all that matters - that a passion for Jesus and the life of the mind are mutually exclusive. What this view misses is that burning hearts are not nourished by empty heads. We must develop our minds if we are to sustain our passion for the Savior and deal with the bias against us.
Ligonier Ministries hosted its 2012 National Conference, The Christian Mind, in Orlando, FL. Sinclair Ferguson, W. Robert Godfrey, Michael Horton, Albert Mohler, Steven Meyer, and Del Tackett considered the importance of building a Christian worldview, the role of education in the Christian life, science, and God's natural revelation, defending the faith, and many other topics.

Light & Heat: A Passion for the Holiness of God: 2011 National Conference

Essential doctrines of the Christian faith are under attack, even from within the church, and it is important that we be well grounded in biblical truths so that we may have a deep affection for our holy, triune God.

Sproul, John Piper, and Ligonier Teaching Fellows Sinclair Ferguson, and W. Tough Questions Christians Face: 2010 National Conference

Christ has redeemed us to be a light that directs others to Him. Fulfilling this call requires us to be able to deal with the most difficult questions asked about the Christian faith. If we are unprepared to face the darkness around us, it will be harder to counter it with the light of God’s Word.
Ligonier Ministries hosted its 2010 National Conference, Tough Questions Christians Face, in Orlando, FL. Alistair Begg, Michael Horton, John MacArthur, Albert Mohler, Burk Parsons, R.C. Sproul and Derek Thomas address some of the most difficult questions we face and endeavor to offer biblical answers to assure us and to help us defend the truths of the faith. This conference also features a special mini-conference on Christian communication in a digital social-networking world.

The Sovereignty of God: 1996 National Conference

Who's in charge, man or God? From the beginning, people have wrongly answered life's crucial question. Homo mensura, we have proudly declared. Man, not God, is the measure of all things.
The Bible disagrees. According to the Scriptures, God is in charge of every aspect of His creation. Ligonier Ministries' 1996 National Conference in Orlando, FL, "The Sovereignty of God," explores God's absolute and benevolent rule and how to apply it to your world. Eric Alexander, Jerry Bridges, W. Robert Godfrey, D. James Kennedy, Al Martin, and R.C. Sproul probe the doctrine of God's sovereignty — and our responsibility to Him who upholds all things by the power of His word.

The Power and the Glory: 2003 National Conference

The Lord’s Prayer teaches us that the power and glory of God’s kingdom will endure forever. As Christians, we affirm that every aspect of life should bring glory to God, and in order to live in such a way, we must learn how to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.
Ligonier Ministries hosted its 2003 National Conference, The Power and the Glory, in Orlando, FL. Sinclair Ferguson, John MacArthur, Albert Mohler, R.C. Sproul, R.C. Sproul Jr., and Douglas Wilson provide sound Biblical teaching on the power and glory of God in the building of His kingdom.

The Holiness of God: 2009 National Conference

The holiness of God has been obscured, and, consequently, the church’s doctrine and ethics have been tarnished. Entertainment has replaced worship in many places, the Gospel is misunderstood and neglected, and the church assimilates itself to the culture instead of seeking to transform it through the preaching of God’s Word. If the church is to regain her saltiness, something must be done.
Ligonier Ministries' 2009 National Conference, The Holiness of God, looks at Scripture’s teaching on God’s holiness and how it affects our worship, doctrine, and personal walk with Christ. This expanded conference also features a mini-conference on the life and influence of John Calvin, whose 500th birthday we celebrate in 2009. Dr. Sproul is joined by other Christian scholars, pastors, and leaders, including Thabiti Anyabwile, Alistair Begg, Don Carson, Ligon Duncan, Sinclair Ferguson, W. Robert Godfrey, Al Mohler, and Derek Thomas, to proclaim and defend the holiness of God.

The End? Finding Hope in the Millennial Maze: 1999 National Conference

As the years go by, frenzied excitement abounds in religious circles about the question of whether or not we are living in the last days. Apocalyptic scenarios for the new millennium have even made their way into secular fiction, movies, and television.
Some of the confusion is understandable. Prophetic passages in Scripture are notoriously difficult to interpret and understand. The widespread misunderstanding of these passages has led to unbridled speculation and predictions about the details and dates surrounding the last days.
Equipping ourselves with some reliable tools for understanding the biblical account of the end times can give us hope as we navigate through the confusion and toward a confident faith in the Lord, whose return we expectantly await.
Ligonier Ministries hosted its 1999 National Conference, The End? Finding Hope in the Millennial Maze, in Orlando, FL. Eric Alexander, Sinclair Ferguson, Ken Gentry, Michael Horton, Richard Stortz, and R.C. Sproul address the critical issues for understanding the key teachings of the Bible on the last days. This series will help provide you with the tools you need to make sense of the millennial maze.

The Christian and Society: War of the Worlds: 1994 National Conference

He stood more than nine feet tall, sheathed in bronze. For forty days he declared, “This day I defy the ranks of Israel.” Goliath knew well the army he taunted; he knew not its Commander. God Himself struck Goliath dead, working through a shepherd boy and five smooth stones.
Like the Israelites, we confront a towering enemy who leaves us dismayed and terrified. The world is imposing, daunting. But greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world.
Ligonier Ministries’ 1994 National Conference, “The Christian and Society: War of the Worlds,” hosted in Orlando, FL, explores how Christians can effectively confront a society that has turned away from God. Respected leaders Kay Arthur, Kay Coles James, J.I. Packer, and R.C. Sproul explain the causes of the conflict and offer strategies for gaining victory.

    Holiness: 2001 National Conference

God is holy. People are unholy. Through God’s holy grace Christians are deemed holy because of the finished work of Christ. We are indwelt by the Holy Spirit, who labors daily to make us more holy. But until we are glorified, the presence of sin remains. Perhaps nothing highlights this more than the way we often respond to the holiness of God. His perfection can terrify we who have broken His law.
Ligonier Ministries hosted its 2001 National Conference, Holiness, in Orlando, FL. Alistair Begg, Jerry Bridges, Sinclair Ferguson, Rosemary Jensen, John MacArthur, Al Mohler, R.C. Essential Truths of the Christian Faith: 1997 National Conference

King Ahaz of Judah learned the hard way that a refusal to stand and confess the truths revealed by the Lord leads only to disaster. Today, many professing evangelicals are repeating Ahaz’s error, diminishing the importance of difficult but crucial doctrines. But if the church is going to crash the gates of hell, she must reaffirm and recommit herself to the essential truths of the Christian faith, as Alistair Begg, James Boice, Sinclair Ferguson, John MacArthur, R.C. Sproul, R.C. Sproul Jr., and others remind us in Ligonier Ministries' 1997 National Conference, in Orlando, FL., "Essential Truths of the Christian Faith."

Defending the Faith in a Faithless World: 1995 National Conference

The apostle Peter lived in a faithless world. Most people didn’t know the Gospel. Many viciously attacked it. In this context Peter wrote, “Always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you” (I Peter 3:15).
Our world is like Peter’s. Knowledge of Christian truth fades; hostility toward the faith flourishes. And we, fearing ridicule and exclusion, too often remain silent about the hope within us.
    No longer.
Ligonier Ministries’ 1995 National Conference, in Orlando, FL., “Defending the Faith in a Faithless World,” prepares you to answer those who challenge God’s glorious truth. James Boice, Sinclair Ferguson, and R.C. Sproul explore effective ways of defending the truth – ways that will equip you to make a difference in your part of the world.

    Amazing Love: 1998 National Conference

In writing his first epistle to Timothy, Paul relied heavily on his understanding of God’s love. Echoing Christ’s teaching that the greatest commandment is love, he exhorted Timothy to focus on ‘love from a pure heart a good conscience and a sincere faith’ as the goal of his instruction.
Man can hope to reach this goal only through the God who is love. Before the foundation of the world, God determined to create man in His own image, and to enter a loving relationship with him. Despite man’s rejection of God and His love, God remained faithful to His purpose and promise, even to the point of sending His Son to the Cross. By this supreme act of love, God redeemed His people, freeing and enabling them to love Him in return.
In Ligonier Ministries' 1998 National Conference, "Amazing Love," in Orlando, FL. Jerry Bridges, Sinclair Ferguson, John MacArthur and R.C. Sproul unpack the amazing story of God’s love. This series will give you a renewed sense of joy that accompanies the knowledge of God’s love.

Since the dawn of time, God has made His character known throughout creation. We see His power and wisdom in the created order. The punishment of the wicked reflects His wrath and holiness, and His love and mercy are displayed in the history of redemption. As Christians, we glory in these displays of His perfection.
